Halloween Pillow Cases

UFO Sunday with Leah Day at The Free Motion Quilting Project

A boy was born...I thought it would be fun to make him a monster Halloween pillow case.  Well that was 8 years ago!  Now I have two kids.  So the other day I bought fabric to make a Halloween pillow case for my daughter too.  You know you can't just make one pillow case when you have two children.

So I googled for a pillow case pattern.  I found Magical Pillowcase Tutorial by tiddletails.  Here is her blog:   where you can find the instructions:

 It was so easy!

Why did I wait so long to make the pillowcase????  Sometimes the time just isn't right.  I too like Leah wonder why I made something, didn't finish it, or just the other day I was telling a friend of mine about the expensive first fabric that I ever bought to teach myself to quilt.  I pulled out the fabric to show her...there where a few of the original blocks I had made plus some other things I had sewn together and I don't ever remember doing them!!!!  That was about 19 years ago!!!

I am only keeping 5 UFO's out in plain sight.  The rest are behind closed doors or drawers.  They all must wait their turn to come out to be finished.  No mater how loud they scream at me!!!

Fall Memories

I started this a few years ago.  I was working in a quilt store, the pattern arrived and I feel in love.  I live in SE Texas and the leaves just don't turn like they do up north.  I was born and lived in Indiana until I was 18 years old.  Any way...at the time I fused it all together I was scared to death on how to quilt it.  Let alone how was I going to secure the fused pieces down.  Well I put it on the shelf and waited.  I have since taken classes and now feel much better with my machine applique and I am starting to FMQ.  I like to trace my designs for quilting.  I have used the blue pens, designs drawn on freezer paper ironed to the quilt top, and tissue paper with the designs drawn on.  Still learning what is the best way for me to get the quilt design onto the quilt top.  Not feeling the "free" motion of it all yet.  So I have a "UFO" done!!!

One of Many UFO's Completed

This is a quilt I made.  Pat Sloan hosted an Aurifil Blog Hop, Feburary 21-25 2011.  I machine pieced, appliqued and quilted it.

Cutting Table is Done!

It is working out really well.  I had the dresser, my daughters old changing table, had the paint from another project.  Had the peg board from long ago.  Now on to finishing those UFO's.

Found a Cutting Table for my sewing room

I have been wanting to get something to use for a cutting table in my sewing room.  There are a lot of great ideas out there in blog world.  Many use the cubes with storage bins, there are the file cabinets with a door on top and I have been directed to check out IKEA.  Well I never made it to IKEA.  I just looked in my own home.  I am using my daughters changing table.  She is now 5 and got new furniture this winter for her room.  The thing has been sitting up stairs in the hall staring at me every time I pass it.
So the only cost to me is the primer and paint.  Got to love that!
